Hope 4 Humanity is a US-based group dedicated to raising awareness about injustices faced by migrants in the US, as well as wider social issues. They commissioned Autonomic to create an immersive, engaging, and modern website to effectively communicate the seriousness of their cause, and encourage participation from the public.
The approach to finding the correct visual tone for the project was based on being able to build a coherent narrative throughout the website, with the application of commissioned illustrations from Brazilian artist Thainan Castro. As the illustrations strengthened the graphic journey, the layout design was concerned with giving them the appropriate environment to tell the stories the group had gathered from its community.
We were grateful to Hope 4 Humanity for engaging constructively and respectfully with discussions about ethics during the project, including arranging for references from queer and non-Christian people who’d collaborated with them, attesting to their inclusivity and non-dogmatism.
The website was implemented using the new WordPress “Full Site Editing” functionality, allowing Hope 4 Humanity to make significant page structure changes without needing to engage us for code modifications.
